Around the Winter Hearthfire
Join us for a winter's day celebrating fire - our Resistance Homesteading Day is a full day of instruction, hands-on, and community.
1-6pm - Resistance Homesteading Day
6-7pm - Optional - Eat the Dinner we cooked on the fire!
7-8:30pm - Optional - Stay for our Full Moon Ritual and have your brooms/besoms blessed!
Here's a tentative schedule breakdown (depending on attendee number):
1pm - Opening Circle & Introductions
1:15 - 4:30 Rotating Skill Groups
You will go to the assigned group, then rotate every hour to catch all three classes.
--Group 1 - Axe Use, Chopping, Stacking, Building Fire w/ Zach (Axe safety, hands-on chopping practice, how to stack firewood correctly and hands-on fire building skills.)
--Group 2 - Herbalcraft class w/ Carrie (Basic herbal instruction, herbs for healing, and herbcrafting a make & take item tba.)
--Group 3 - Fire Cider Workshop w/ Mela (Learn the history of fire cider as resistance folk medicine, its ingredients, and hands-on practice making a small jar you'll take home to use)
4:30-4:45 - Break, Rest, Wiggle Room
4:45-5:15pm - Make a small besom/broom with local broom sedge to use in cleansing hearth & home.
5:15-6pm - Communal Fire Cooking with Tabitha (at fires built by participants)
Demonstration: rustic bread made on the fire & stew for dinner.
6-7pm DINNER w/ the food that was cooked on the fire for those that stay. Rest. Chat.
7pm - Gathering for full moon
7:30 Full Moon ritual begins. Includes blessing besoms that were made. Gratitude for fire that warms us, heals us, and feeds us.
DRESS WARM - BRING A CAMP CHAIR IF POSSIBLE
We will have hot drinks and snacks available through the day.
Cost: $25 or Pay What You Can per person. We do not want anyone to miss out due to finances, so when you click the link to pay, it gives you the option to make your own price. We will also be taking donations the day of the event if you'd like to help us grow even further. This is a fundraising event for Greenwild & Awen Grove.
